Besides teaching, I also write songs and piano pieces. From 2013 to 2021 I took private composition lessons from Dr. Robert Boury, Professor of Music and Resident Composer at UALR (now retired). Eight of my compositions were performed in Songwriters Showcases at the UALR Fine Arts Center, by sopranos, Dr. Boury, and myself.

I've also performed my own compositions in student recitals at Pulaski Heights Methodist Church, the UAMS Cancer Institute, The Good Shepherd Retirement Community, and Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation. I also performed my "Safe and Warm" art song (arranged for piano) for a service at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church.

As of July 2022, I've composed 12 songs, 25 solo piano pieces, 1 piano duet, and many arrangements for my piano students. I've also helped students write their own songs and piano pieces. I've also written the music to a children's song, "I Am a Light for Jesus" (to lyrics by Rev. Richard S. Mitchell) and several arrangements of hymns, which I played at Bethel United Methodist Church.

I’m happy to teach composing to any of my students who show interest. Their best creations can be submitted to student composition contests. I always encourage my student composers to play their original pieces at recitals!
